BSA Troop 941 is a “linked” troop consisting of Boys Troop 941 and Girls Troop 941. Our troop has been a part of the Pinecrest community since 1972 and is sponsored by Loyal Order of Moose Lodge West Dade #1825. We’re located in the “Everglades District” (formerly Hurricane District) of the South Florida Council of BSA with headquarters in Miami Springs, Fla.
Troop 941 welcomes boys and girls either crossing over from Webelos or who are age 11. We meet 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. every Tuesday, at Vineland K-8 Center (Vineland Elementary School) in Miami, Fla.
Our boys unit scoutmaster is J.D. Anson; our girls unit scoutmaster is Jen Grant. Our charter organization rep is Barry Schwartzman. The Boys’ SPL is Lucas. The Girls’ SPL is Dylan.
We have graduated 111 Eagle Scouts as of October 2022 including 110 boys plus our first female Eagle Scout, Andrea.
HISTORY
BSA Troop 941 originated when a group of Scouts and leaders split off from Pack and Troop 491 at Kendall Presbyterian Church. We formed a new pack and troop at Vineland Elementary School, now Vineland K-8 Center, and have enjoyed a great relationship with the principal and faculty of that school since 1972.
FOUNDERS
The original Boy Scout Troop 941 founders were George Locus and Robert Ebsary, Sr., and the Cub Scout Pack 941 founder was Robert K. Adams (obituary).
AWARDS
Pack and Troop 941 have earned many awards in nearly a half century of serving the Kendall and South Miami area. [More coming soon…]
